Anyone want to chat about +Gravity ??

I’ve seen it twice, and I only noticed the umbilical cord / fetal position scene as a very obvious womb / rebirth / maternal safety motif. But with all the conjecture on the human condition, life, death, and religious meanderings…. was it simply quite a literal film, or can we look for subtext and other deeper meaning explored visually?

I mean, I assume things like the “woof woof” wasn’t just an attempt to connect to something simple about the human condition, or something grounded, but actually symbolized her regression to something a bit more primal, and the woofing (as it were), brought her back to the simple survival instinct and the energy to carry on?

I am overthinking this?

Did anyone else see obvious imagery that created more depth to the story…. of course, beyond the mesmerizing planet we were staring at.

I felt the story was more about the earth, & this human moment in time, more than just the astronauts’ experience. More about our collective human condition – doomed in peril in space, doomed to die on earth, and coping with that in a way that compels us to survive.

I felt a bit of commentary regarding our impact on the entire earth, and our long term potential of avoiding the devastating fallout from it, ie space junk, and the inevitability of this. I also think it speaks a bit to manned space exploration, versus this new era of drones and UAV’s, etc, the danger and cost, etc.

As for the science, it’s obviously the most perfect realization of actual physics in film history. It was glorious, and breathtaking.

A few questions for +Chris Hadfield and other +NASA #astronauts…

Here’s a layman question: What happens to the air from a pressurized space as it rushes out into the vacuum as the compartment decompresses? Does that air cease to exist? Does it freeze? I know this might be quite stupid of a question.

When Clooney had just began to float away with his dead jet pack, would it have been possible to unbuckle himself from the pack, then push off of it with enough force to get back to the ship? Or is that pack irrevocably connected to the suit?

Do you guys have any other questions about the general physics of it? It’s so brilliant… to see tears in space, and zero G fire. It was so beautiful.
