“No pressure, just lovely, interesting discussion” – Richard Feynman, about his relationship with his father.

Martin Gardner passed away recently… here is a wonderful Obituary from the Economist.  He was such an inspiration to me, and truly one of my first entries into critical, rational thought.  He reminded me of my pop, a bit… and the fact that instead of just telling me, my dad would always encourage me to find things out… to understand and interpret my own thoughts and feelings on reality, data, events, etc.  Anyways, that’s how my mind works… Martin was a gentle, thougthful man who introduced me to many thing, just like my Dad.  So why wouldn’t I be reminded of a Father’s Day ode from another idol who passed long ago and far too young… Richard Feynman.  In a famous interview, he talks a bit about his father, and what he meant… how he helped him to think and ponder… and how important a father is in development and stimulation. Anyone who ever plans to be a father, or anyone that is one….. you should watch this and think about it!

So Dad…. thank you! Happy Father’s Day!  What you have done and continue to do is beyond words… and I want to thank you now!  So without further ado… here’s DICK!
