Delroy Wilson, friends.

More yammering after you click… HERE

After years of absolute shite being produced in almost every genre of music, I am back to near where I started*.

* – My musical progression – classical to jazz & blues (passive listening) to beatles / 50’s-60’s pop to Monkees bubblegum.  I was shocked the guys weren’t playing their instruments early on… and then I understood Mickey’s stepping stone mood.  I was then led to punk.  In SF’s punk & 3rd wave ska scene, I also listened to Oi and classic punk like the Clash / Ramones.  It was then I heard Clash’s Pressure Drop cover that led me to Toots, and figured out the bluebeat two tone band Specials had covered Dandy Livingstone’s “Message to you, Rudi”…  well I was hooked.  From there I went back into traditional soul / funk and rare groove jazz, electronica, hip hop and more.  But this isn’t about that. It’s about easy skanking in simpler times, oh say about the age of 13.
It’s about being in a dancing mood….
I’m in a dancing mood, baby.
I’m in a dancing mood.
When you feel the beat,
you gotta move yo feet,
you gotta clap your hands.
You got so much soul,
deep down inside,
that you can’t hide.
I’m in a dancing mood.
SO…
1959 uptown Kingston jazz to 1969 rocksteady roots to reggae revolt.  I have a couple feet of Treasure Isle, Studio One, Trojan records from Kong, Dodd, Reid camps – and it seems I can’t stop playing it.
Anyone else into this stuff.  Anyone else still reading this thread?  I promise *PROMISE* you – if you get music, the above makes sense.
