Because there should be.

Except Arbor day. And maybe MLK day.

I am *ALL* in on this. The derivative notion of cribbing pagan holidays dating back to Sumerian or Babylonian times? Boring. Sugary sweet candies and panicking to dress up is one thing. I oft like a costume. But eating far too much for a few months, buying too much (problematic, unhealthy, stressful money wasting for material nonsense. Consumerism run amuck), drinking too much, sitting too much…. Don’t get me started on the 4th. Fireworks are pretty, but there’s just too much to dissect there.

seems absurd. I will also go on record as saying the fertility symbols of easter are bizarre, and if we’re talking arbitrary celebrations the idea of the tooth fairy is positively creepy. I like getting together with friends and family, and cooking… but hell, that’s life, and we do that all the time and always appreciate it. These arbitrary festivals of frustration seem so backwards to me. I might be missing the point.

It’s not about me, is it?
