Sitting in a car and not holding a steering wheel would trip me out… but it’s only about control, right? It’s so much safer, but like flying… lack of control freaks us out. I cannot wait to sleep more throughout my days as I catch quick naps!

Conan O’Brien said “A new report claims that self-driving cars will be on the road by 2030. The idea of being dropped off by a driverless car (at an airport, at a hiking trailhead), and then telling it to pick you up (at a differing airport in the same region, at the back end of a hiking trail so you don’t have to shuttle cars around)….

This is amazing. It’s not just about not driving, it’s about so many things. If your car can drive, and doesn’t need to park…. do you save money parking by having it drive a few times around the block while you run an errand? This stuff is so cool.?

Also… an interesting read on the design of the cars, that were designed differently because people originally trusted the driverless cars *too much*. Basically, humans are too fallible to be trusty co-pilots, shifting control between the car and the human. We’re sloppy, so Google went all car, no human. –

Here’s a Wired article about it, and the “First Drive” video:
