3D printing will blow your mind. – from NY Times.  Also, an additional entry from The Economist about “The Shape of Things to Come”. Always with the wry titles, you gents and scholars.

It will destroy the worldwide shipping industry. It’s fine… just another paradigm damaged by tech… but you got to wonder how many collective jobs have been reduced due to tech. We are making a world where humans won’t be necessary, or as necessary. Namely… grunt and hourly work, and unskilled labor, are losing their jobs at an aggressive rate.

Still… this is an amazing concept. Think about a souvenir product for a city or company that is able to license the design, not a physical product. If I want to sell their product, I just buy a schematic for the printer.

Our old economy is so far out of touch and synch, it’s frightening. It’s time to Evolve.

I wish we could culturally, socially, economically, governmentally…. just have a full “time out”, and put everything on pause… and then just stare at this mess we have made. During a “time out”, maybe we could honestly talk about the last two decades of advancement that have so fundamentally altered what it means to do business, govern, or be human… that we have all been too busy to notice.

It’s not even an option at this point… we need to stop production, consumption, and mindlessly trogging along. Why don’t you think the economy hasn’t gotten better? Band aids will not fix a gaping flesh wound. Our economy doesn’t need stimulus. It needs to be torn apart, and rebuilt. I don’t mean this in some revolutionary way…. I mean it in a self aware way that is done constructively, and with ultimate citizen, business, and governmental participation….

So you ready for this capitalism? Ready to be self-aware? You’ve been a bit narcissistic, and self-absorbed as of late.
